Founded in 1990, Pretium Packaging steadily grew its rigid packaging manufacturing footprint to become an international collection of regional and specialty facilities with expertise in diverse industries, custom design and stock solutions. Each added company brought strong client relationships, industry expertise, and a willingness to share solutions and technical support across their network.

With new executive leadership coming on board in 2024, it became time to align all of its facilities and 2,900 employees with a shared vision of the future—a brand identity that would embrace their diversity of rigid packaging solutions, reinforce the synergy amongst divisions, and consistently share a clear and compelling story to effectively connect with their B2B clients.

Following our team’s deep dive into Pretium and the rigid packaging manufacturing industry, Pretium’s leadership team joined us for two in-studio workshops. Together we looked closely at their shared values and uncovered the company’s core purpose: to turn bold visions into reality.

Visual Identity

The Brandmark

The Pretium brandmark is born from function: derived from the cap threads that top every bottle, jar and canister they make, it represents the exactitude required in product engineering. A single, continuous line wraps around a square form, a visual rhythm that speaks to containment, protection, movement and speed. It evokes Pretium’s technical heritage and adaptable innovation.

Color

Pretium’s palette evolved to express the brand’s balance of natural vitality and refined craftsmanship. Vibrant cool greens and a warm metallic copper accent give a clean, modern look.

Typography

Pretium’s typography embraces bold contrast that creates a confident, expressive rhythm. Large headings and significantly smaller supporting text brings clear focus to key messages and backs them up with insightful information.

Imagery

Image curation focuses on conveying transformation, elevation and living values. Through abstract forms, gallery-quality attention to detail and finishes, and people using their products in real-life settings, Pretium’s imagery inspires clients to turn their bold visions into reality.

Activation

Eager to put their brand identity into action, the Pretium team started with their social media outreach for two key trade shows: SupplySide Global and Natural Products Expo West. For each show, BasedOn wrote and designed three carousel posts targeting key client sectors and offerings ahead of each event; these posts began incorporating new brand messaging and subtle design cues with their existing brandmark identity. These posts helped engage their customers and show attendees, and gave Pretium’s sales team a tool to credential and initiate conversations.

Pretium publicly launched their full new brand during Natural Products Expo West with a new product booth onsite that included labeled sample bottles and jars, and a looping video to launch their story and look. Armed with new tools, a dynamic look and engaging messaging, the Pretium team generated positive connections with long-time clients, new industry contacts, and throughout their own sites and employees. Preliminary results indicate that sustained, organic engagement across social channels has increased by 40%, with no sign of slowing.

Summary

Pretium has always put their all into helping clients shape, scale and grow with confidence with rigid packaging solutions. Their decision to refresh the Pretium brand was much more than simply wanting to change their look and update their message. This was a chance to bring all of their facilities and people together, to reaffirm their core values and appreciate why they love this industry. With this compelling position inspiring their team, our BasedOn team was able to create a brand identity that matched their energy and outlook, and help Pretium grow boldly.
